The environment of South Mississippi is almost unbearable in the summer. With no grocery stores and no service stations, the citizens are forced to make difficult choices. These choices blur the line between right and wrong.

About the AUTHOR

J. R. Gavin was born in Laurel, Mississippi in 1948. He received his BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University in 1970 and has worked for thirty years in software and electronics. He has lived in Alabama, Mississippi, Ohio, Texas and Saudi Arabia. In 1990 he constructed a poultry farm and raised chickens for ten years. Today he is retired and spends his time writing, gardening, and helping his wife in her upholstery shop. He owns land near Soso, Mississippi that rests on the east slope of Jones County’s historic Ridge Road. From that Piney Woods acreage flow the cool headwaters of Spring Creek which flow into the wetlands below nearby Highway 28. These swamps are steeped in Civil War lore, and provided the inspiration for this, his first, novel.
